In an effort to expeditiously mitigate overcrowded schools, and provide quality and equitable learning environments, OWP/P worked with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to develop protoype elementary school designs that could used throughout the district. These plans were developed to be flexible in design, adapt to site configurations, reflect the distinct characteristics of each neighborhood and accommodate a wide range of community uses.
Thoughtful and innovative design features were built onto the base L-shape plan at the newly constructed Claremont Academy. The school serves as a beacon of opportunity for an often-underserved urban neighborhood.
