Dr. Brian Fagan, Professor Emeritus of Archaeology at UC San Diego
The author or editor of 46 books, Brian Fagan’s most recent book is The Great Warming: Climate Change and the Rise and Fall of Civilizations. He is widely recognized as an expert on archeology, and he appears regularly on national radio and television programs, including a 2008 appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart in which he discussed the impact of climate change on human history.

Dr. Thomas Homer-Dixon, professor and author of The Upside of Down
As a political scientist with long-standing interest in energy policy, Thomas Homer-Dixon has written three award-winning books about ways society can adapt to economic, environmental and technological changes. In his most recent book, The Upside of Down, he encourages readers to take an opportunistic approach to combating climate change with innovations.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21
Dr. Tyler Volk, Professor of Biology at NYU and author of CO2 Rising: The World’s Greatest Environmental Challenge
Trained as a biologist and an architect, Tyler Volk has completed extensive research on the environmental impact of greenhouse gas emissions and explains the carbon cycle in plain terms to help define the challenges of the future.
