After a thorough planning process with numerous community groups, OWP/P designed a new 1,400-student community high school that integrates four small 350-student schools into one building.

Based upon a universal creation myth, each school has a unique identity incorporating the elements of fire, earth, water and wind from Aztec mythology, which are cast as icons throughout their respective schools. In the central commons space, a solar calendar uses the reflection of the sun to commemorate the community’s successful 19-day hunger strike, which was driven by the goal of providing new local school facilities.
