Chicago Public Schools selected OWP/P as design architect for a new 1,000-student neighborhood school. Overcrowding of the existing nearby Kelvyn Park High School drove the need for a new high school.
Constructed on an existing brownfield site, the new school was built around two existing buildings, which were subsequently be demolished, creating space for a front entry plaza and parking lot. The building embraces a contemporary design, organized around a sunlight-filled commons/gathering area.
