Chicago’s first new public high school in 20 years, Northside College Preparatory High School, was completed and ready for occupancy in two years. Since its opening in the Fall of 1999, the school has achieved the No. 1 ranking in state achievement tests.
The site, constricted on the west side by a busy street and on the east by the North Branch of the Chicago River, resulted in a stacked linear floor plan. The three-story design provides an efficient use of available space.
