With WorldCom’s existing Chicago-area network information centers approaching capacity, OWP/P worked with Tishman Construction as a design/build team to develop a two-story building to house new high-speed telecommunications switching equipment.
At the onset of the project, OWP/P completed a master site plan to develop a building design that optimizes WorldCom’s remaining property. To connect the facility to WorldCom’s existing network, a series of manholes and trenches were created to allow the installation of a redundant fiber optic duct bank, which includes three outside ports that connect to a fiber optic distribution grid.
